Privacy Policy
Meepleaf is a board game rules assistant for iPhone, made by Ellie Lu ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information Meepleaf collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. If you have a question, write to help@meepleaf.app.
What we collect
- Your questions and our answers. The messages you send, the answers you get, the games you pick, and the answers you star, so your chat history is there when you come back.
- Photos you attach. A photo you send with a question (for example, of a card or a board) is kept with that message.
- Voice recordings. When you use the microphone, the recording is turned into text for the message box. We don't keep the recording after that.
- Account details, if you sign in. Your email address, and your name if Apple or Google gives it to us. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only see Apple's relay address.
- A sign-in token. Meepleaf creates an account for you the first time you open the app, without asking you to sign up. A random token stored on your phone identifies that account. We don't collect your device's advertising identifier, contacts or location.
- Basic technical logs. Our server records requests and errors (such as times and error messages) to keep the service running and fix problems.
How we use it
- To answer your questions and keep your chats, starred answers and recent games.
- To let you sign in and use the same account on another device.
- To send you a sign-in code when you ask for one. We don't send marketing email.
- To keep Meepleaf secure, fix problems and improve its answers.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who helps us
We share information only with services that help run Meepleaf, and only what they need:
- Google (Gemini API) writes the answers and turns voice recordings into text. It receives your questions, attached photos and recordings.
- Voyage AI helps find the right rulebook passages. It receives the text of your questions.
- Brave Search searches the web when the rulebooks don't cover a question. It receives search terms based on your question.
- Resend delivers sign-in codes. It receives your email address.
- Apple and Google handle "Sign in with Apple" and "Sign in with Google", under their own privacy policies.
- Our hosting provider stores Meepleaf's data on its servers.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your chats and account until you delete them. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Server logs are kept only while they're useful for running and fixing the service.
Your choices
- Delete everything: in the app, open the menu, tap your name, then Delete account (or Delete my data if you haven't signed in). This deletes your account, chats, photos and starred answers right away.
- Sign out: your chats stay in your account, and the phone starts again as a new guest.
- Access or correct: write to help@meepleaf.app for a copy of your information or to correct it.
Children
Meepleaf isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we'll delete it.
Where your information is processed
We're based in Canada. The services above may process information in other countries, including the United States, under their own safeguards.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app.
